#S130. Shabby Pink Vintage Bear Book Du Bois
This is just too too charming. You all know my fascination with shabby and just the right color books.....used strictly for display. Well...here is another one that I just fell in love with. Not for the perfectionist, it has the best shabby vintage faded pink patina. How pretty to stack with some old faded white books. This is an old library book that still contains the checkout envelope and "date due" labels on the back inside cove, which I find very endearing. This book was published in 1951 and printed in Belgium. The last date stamped was Oct. 31, 1983. It belonged to the Adlai E. Stevenson School. It has 48 pages and is 8-1/4" x 5-1/2". There is one page that was torn out early on and was taped back in which is now totally worn out. The spine is very shabby also. The book is about the koala bears in the park who, for whatever reason, aren't getting along. The wise old bear who lives in the tip top of the tallest eucalytus tree throws a costume party so none of the bears will know who each other is and therefore will get along. It's a very sweet story and well worth the read to a little one. The graphics in the book are charming and I love the dancing bears on the front of the shabby pink cover. Author of the book is William Pene Du Bois. A darling nod to whimsy in the decor and a sweet old treasure.
